Are Projects the New Job Interview?

An article posted by Inc.com on April 16, 2013 says that “projects are the real future of hiring.” As a marriage of job application and a test of skills, firms are increasingly asking candidates to literally show them what they’ve got.

If you have ever been in an organization that has conducted the traditional interview processes with reference checks or even psychological testing you know that while the job interviewcandidate may be perfect on paper there is still a chance, once you are actually working with the individual, they aren’t a fit.

Surprisingly Inc.com reports that organizations that are using this method of hiring aren’t expecting the work for free. “They’re paying below-market rate for their candidate’s insights and efforts.”

“This appears to be a more efficient and effective mechanism for companies and candidates to gain the true measure of each other.”
