Employee Onboarding: Not Just a Benefit to the Employee

“Effective employee onboarding has a positive domino effect:” it exists to help new employees, but ultimately benefits the company immensely.

onboardingBenefits of proper orientation and onboarding:

  • “Reduces costs associated with learning on the job”
  • Saves others the time of having to train, allowing for continued production
  • “Increases morale and reduces turnover by showing the employees he/she is valued”

New employees will aim to get to know who they will be working with and their expectations.

Career Builder gives a few tips for a productive onboarding experience:

  • Give each employee a written plan of employee objectives and responsibilities. Career Builder argues that it “Helps diminish any confusion about a new employee’s job functions and instead opens the floor to discuss concerns or new opportunities.”
  • Schedule one-on-one time with each new employee to make sure you are connecting regularly throughout the onboarding process.

Effective onboarding “ensures new hires feel welcome and prepares in their new positions, in turn giving them the confidence and resources to make an impact within the organization, and ultimately allowing the company to continue carrying out its mission.”
