looking for jobsJob seekers choose to flock to the big cities where jobs are plentiful and housing is affordable.  Texas continues to be a top destination for job seekers.  It cannot be the water so it must be the oil.  Several cities in Texas rank high on Forbes’s list so that bodes positively for the Texas job market. There are glamorous cities to move to, such as San Francisco and Honolulu, but housing in these cities is “off-the-charts” expensive and the job market is dismal. There may be a city that just pushes all the right buttons for you as well as providing you with a decent job. Maybe you can have your cake and eat it.  Dallas is a top 5 big city for jobs. So if you’re looking to land a good job in an exciting city, then you ought to check out the housing in this city. You’ll be surprised by what your dollar can get you and they are in locations within easy traveling distance to downtown Dallas.

According to the criteria used by the Forbes team, the State of Texas just about cleaned up in all three size categories (small, medium and large cities).  El Paso was actually listed as the number one mid-sized city in the United States. And then there is Austin, which is ranked number one in large metropolitan areas to look for jobs. The Greater San Antonio area boasts some of the country’s biggest companies. In fact, there are no less than six Fortune 1000 companies who are housed in this area. Greater Austin is home to many different industries, with the top players being the government and education. There are also numerous high-tech companies. The majority of the big employers make their home in Austin itself.

Getting hired in today’s job market is tough – now you add finding a job that pays well. Texas certainly continues to top the list for job seekers, but how does it rank when it comes to finding high paying jobs?  Instead of looking for love, job seekers are looking for work in all the right places. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dallas leads the way.  Not only is the Dallas-area per-capita income of $39,548 comfortably above the national average of $37,000, but it’s growing fastest in the top half of wages above $16 an hour.

Texas makes its way to the top of most lists when it comes to job opportunities, economic growth, and housing.  Not only are there jobs in Texas, they are good paying jobs.  Notable in all regards, Texas remains synonymous with opportunity and growth.
