Dallas, Texas, 5/4/2011:In the next decade, hospitals will be scheduling more surgeries for the aging baby boom generation. "And that'll keep anesthesiologists in high demand in almost any city," says physician recruiter Eric Dickerson of Kaye/Bassman in Dallas. The median nationwide salary for an anesthesiologist is $290,000, but salaries can vary greatly based on the city, hospital and the doctor's experience. Surprisingly, mid-level cities may pay more than huge metro areas like New York and Chicago to lure doctors, according to Dickerson.
