Stephen Norred is the Co-Director of the Kaye/Bassman's Military Specialty Practice. The Military Specialty Practice compliments and supplements all Kaye/Bassman domains by providing the best and the brightest candidates from our Nation’s Armed Forces. Stephen has facilitated the placement of thousands of candidates into manufacturing, logistics, engineering, sales, operations, project management, and service management, pharmaceutical sales, bio-medical, semiconductor and new home building among other many other areas. Stephen was promoted to Partner in his first year at Kaye/Bassman, a first time achievement in company history. Stephen and practice partner Mark Whalls led the Kaye/Bassman Military Specialty Practice team to secure a first year company record in both placements and revenue. Stephen brings seven years of military search experience. Prior to joining Kaye/Bassman, Stephen had a successful career with one of the largest military search firms in the United States. He joined Kaye/Bassman in order to give Corporate America the kind of exceptional client and candidate service that can only be provided by an executive search firm the caliber of Kaye/Bassman. Stephen’s clients value his can-do attitude and unwavering commitment to customer service. He has an affinity to matching the right candidate to the right employer. He believes in customizing each search for to meet unique client needs. Stephen contributed 22 years of active duty to the United States Navy. After graduating from Recruit Training Command in San Diego, he reported to the USS Saratoga CV 60 and the V-2 Division. He then graduated at the top of his class at the Naval Training Center Lakehurst, NJ, an ABE class “A” school. He chose Pre Commissioning duty aboard the Dwight David Eisenhower CVN 69. Reporting to New Port News Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company, Stephen spent the next two years working in a shipyard environment as part of the Catapult test team. Stephen left the Eisenhower after her maiden voyage in 1979. After a three-year career with Hughes Tool Company in his hometown of Houston, Stephen reenlisted in the Navy in 1982 and received orders back to the Dwight D Eisenhower CVN 69 for his second tour until 1985. He then reported to Navy Recruiting District San Antonio and served as the Recruiter in Charge of Navy Recruiting Station Victoria, TX until 1988. He served on Pre commissioning duty aboard the Abraham Lincoln CVN 72 until his return from the Gulf War where he served as the Waist Cat Chief. Stephen was subsequently selected as a Navy Counselor for the Career Recruiting Force Academy in Pensacola FL and then received orders to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Boston. Stephen then reported to NRD Nashville, transferring in 1998 to Pensacola, FL. In just eight years, he returned to the schoolhouse as a Senior Instructor. Stephen retired in 2000 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and was quickly recruited by one of the nation's top military staffing firms. Since his retirement, he has served as a member of the Enlisted Advisory Board, a free network offering separating veterans guidance in the transition from active duty to the private sector. The United States Secretary of Labor and the United States Naval Academy recognized him for his lectures on transition. As a result, he is given total access while speaking at military installations across the nation. Stephen and practice partner Mark have visited and lectured at almost every major command in the United States. Stephen lives in Frisco, TX with his wife Tykie. They have two daughters, Allie and Jackie, and a Golden Retriever named Sandy. Stephen is a certified diver and has a passion for fresh and saltwater sports. He also enjoys golf and racquetball.
