UMASS RADIOLOGY:

Providing complete IR services through intellectual vibrancy and technological innovation, the UMass IR Division is comprised of 6 fellowship-trained IR faculty, 2 body-trained faculty who perform CT and US guided procedures, and 14 APPs who perform image-guided procedures and assist with the initial evaluation and post-procedure management of IR patients. The IR division has close, productive collaborations with vascular surgery, oncology, and trauma, performing over 1,600 procedures per year, in addition to 2,200 vascular access procedures. The division also works closely with the NeuroInterventional Radiology (NIR) team who perform a wide array of complex NIR procedures in 2 additional Philips biplane rooms, in support of the UMass comprehensive New England Center for Stroke Research.

The Department of Radiology performs approximately 800,000 imaging studies per year across six sites in Central Massachusetts and via its joint venture with Shields MRI. Currently, the department receives approximately $6M in external research funding as well approximately $2M in support of clinical trials. The department has an enterprise-wide PACS system (AGFA and TeraRecon), as well as EPIC EMR.
