Emergency Radiology (Swing Shift) Job Description
The Department of Radiology at the University of Kentucky (UK), College of Medicine Albert B. Chandler Medical Center (UK HealthCare) is seeking a dynamic and visionary academic clinician for a full-time, evening appointment at the Assistant Professor Level or higher in the Division of Emergency Radiology. The Emergency Radiologist (Swing Shift) will be an ABR-certified/eligible radiologist and will join the eight (8) existing faculty members within the Division. Reporting to the Division Chief of Emergency Radiology, the Emergency Radiologist (Swing Shift) will be responsible for providing the full range of diagnostic examinations including Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with a focus on body MRI, Ultrasound, and Conventional Radiography (X-ray) at the region’s only Level 1 pediatric and adult trauma center. Coverage is also provided to a community partner emergency department.
This swing shift opportunity (2pm to Midnight, 7 days on/7 days off) provides the radiologist with a schedule of one week on and one week off, which allows for significant flexibility for travel and family.
The ideal candidate will be fellowship-trained in emergency radiology or neuroradiology, but any candidate with strong interest/background in emergency imaging will be considered. The position does not require any procedural skills. The successful Emergency Radiologist (Swing Shift) should also have a demonstrated career interest in emergency radiology, strong clinical skills in all modalities and organ systems, be able to properly function at a high level in a time-sensitive emergency setting, and work well in a collaborative setting. Experience in teaching radiology residents on the clinical service is strongly preferred.
The UK Emergency Radiology Division & UK Chandler Emergency Department:
The UK Chandler Emergency Department is the largest direct portal to the hospital for all acute care. Opened in July of 2010, the Chandler Emergency Department is equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring and life-support systems with trauma facilities that can handle any life-saving procedure. There are endless opportunities to expand clinical expertise as well as to engage in academic pursuits with numerous case studies, posters, exhibits, and papers routinely submitted from the Emergency Radiology Division.
The emergency radiologists at the University of Kentucky are recognized experts in acute care imaging and provide 24/7 coverage support for all diagnostic imaging studies performed through the UK HealthCare emergency services at Chandler Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. The Division is tightly integrated into the Emergency Department workflow with the reading room located directly in the UK Chandler Emergency Department. The Division has an active consultation service and maintains close working relationships with many clinical services throughout UK HealthCare System.
Qualifications – How Do You Qualify?:
Education/Certifications/Licensure
- MD or DO degree.
- Current Board Certification or Eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology (ABR certified).
- Completion of a Fellowship training program in Emergency Radiology or Neuroradiology, preferred but not required.
- Unrestricted State of Kentucky Medical License (current or eligible).
- Qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Radiology and an appointment to the Medical Staff at the Albert B. Chandler Medical Center.
The successful Evening Emergency Radiologist will be ABR certified or eligible by date of hire.
