OB/GYN Residency Faculty – Laborist Opportunity

Sparrow Health System is the region’s largest health system offering some of the most advanced medical technology in the world. The flagship facility and mid-Michigan’s premier birthing center, E.W. Sparrow Hospital, in conjunction with its nationally recognized academic affiliate, Michigan State University (MSU), is seeking a board-certified, experienced OB/GYN Physician to join our residency core faculty team. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program is an ACGME-approved program with 16 residents (4 residents/year) located in Lansing, MI. This is a full-time position with a clinical, academic appointment with Michigan State University.

The successful candidate will preferably have: Five (5) years of post-residency experience with commensurate clinical skills representing the general practice of obstetrics and gynecology; Demonstrated interest in resident education and scholarly activity with prior experience as a residency faculty; Robotic surgery certification and experience, preferred; and Licensed (or eligible) to practice medicine in the state of Michigan prior to date of hire.


Sparrow/MSU’s four-year, fully accredited ACGME residency program provides compassionate, evidence-based obstetric and gynecologic care to a diverse patient population in Lansing, Michigan — the state capital and home of Michigan State University.

Duties of the Academic OBGYN Core Faculty include:

  • Direct supervision of resident physicians in the outpatient setting, labor and delivery, and operating room;
  • Rotating clinical shifts as Laborist, Clinic Attending, Gynecologic Surgeon, and Hospital GYN/Laborist backup; and
  • Didactic teaching, resident mentoring, committee participation, and scholarly activity as outlined by the ACGME.

The collaborative and well-established program is designed to fulfill the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology educational requirements. The program includes a full-time gynecological oncologist, two specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, a regional neonatal intensive care unit (RNICU), nationally recognized OB/GYN, pathology and emergency medicine departments, and a longstanding partnership with MSU College of Human Medicine.
