A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about ways to enhance your resume, especially if you haven’t
updated it in years. Today, we want to take out the time to tell you about how your resume can actually be preventing you from landing an interview. With the job marketing being so great, the competition for every single position is tough, which puts more pressure on candidates to stand out from the rest. Our recruiters at KBIC look at hundreds of resumes in any given week, and while sorting through these resumes are looking for specific information such as employers, positions, education, etc.
So before you decide to hit the send button and submit your resume, follow these tips shared by Brian de Haaff to make sure your resume doesn’t indicate you’re a bad hire:
- Absent cover letter
- Wrong format
- Distracting images
- Grammatical errors
- Useless jargon
- Resume length
Look over your resume a few times and have someone else proofread it too to ensure you’re not making these mistakes. Once you’ve following these guidelines, start submitting your resume! If you’re looking for suitable positions for you, reach out to one of our recruiters to kick start your job search!
