Contribute to the Main Purpose

Earning money is one of the most fundamental goals for any organization. So does your work directly generate revenue for your company or not? Indeed, everyone is not involved with sales, but you can still think up ways that can help this goal. You should be able to come up with ideas that can let your employer earn more money, and experience a more rapid growth. Maybe you could think of techniques that can help in saving money or gaining that competitive edge.

If you are a part of any of this, you would be quite valuable to your company, and if not, you need to get at least be indirectly involved in it.

Develop soft skills

Your technical skills are important for your employer, but your soft skills like leadership, organization and attitude are even more vital for your own self. Develop them, and there is no way that you would not be given the promotion you want, making you more valuable to the company than you are right now.

Moreover, these skills would help you in getting along with your boss and co – workers. As long as you are on good terms with them, your job is secured, and the moment things start messing up, prepare yourself to face the consequences.

Connect with others

A strong network is a must if you want to survive in today’s tough job world. Meet new people and get acquainted with them. This may not be required in every firm, but there are quite a few for which a professional network is essential.

Let your boss be aware of the performance you put forward

There are quite a few people who manage to get things behind the back even if it does not seem so at the surface. As long as you do not tell your colleagues about your accomplishments that is fine, but the management personnel should be aware of it. So if you solve a seemingly difficult problem or impressively handle a difficult situation, let your boss know about it. Unless he is aware of your achievements, there is no way that he is going to consider you valuable.
