Phrases You Should Never Say in an Interview

workplace gossipAs perfect as your resume may be, there are times when you just do not nail that job interview. What do you think messed up? Probably the fact that you failed to shine in your interview. You let the employer know you were interested in the job, you highlighted your skills, you stressed that you really wanted to work with the company, but despite all of this, you did not get through. Recent research states that this is so because you probably said something that you should not have. In fact, most people fail interviews because of this reason. Gone are the days when employers only considered your skills. They regard other things too and this is just one of them.

The survey suggests that the following phrases are those that should ever be said in an interview. Say these, and there is a very good chance your name goes off the list of potential candidates.

“I cannot stand my boss.”

Your boss may be mean, rude and disrespectful, but you cannot say this outloud, at least not in an interview. You may not like your job at all, but highlighting this means you will not be hired. When you say things like this at an interview, the interviewer probably thinks that you might create problems when you join, and if you ever have to leave, you would always shed a negative light on them.

“How much will you pay me?”

Another thing that you cannot say. You may be very eager to know the answer but do not reveal this at your interview. Maintain focus on why you should be hired and not what you would get if you were appointed. Hopefully, if you get the job, you can ask this question and even try negotiating the offer. The employers will not mind then, but they will not like to hear this at an initial interview.

“I do not know much about your company.”

Say this line at your interview, and we are sure you would receive a rejection letter in the next few days. If this is true, find information about the company before you appear for the interview. Surf their website and gain knowledge about their products and services.  You can actually be asked about these things, and if you fail to answer, it would just serve as a very sure shot sign that you are not interested.
