Construction Firm Earns ENR California’s Highest Honor
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Webcor Builders (Webcor), one of the largest general contractors in California has been selected for the 2014 California Contractor of the Yearaward by the Engineering News-Record‘s (ENR) national editorial staff. ENR California, the publication’s regional branch, nominated Webcor based on their solid 2013 performance revenue, compelling slate of contemporary and bold projects, commitment to sustainability and community involvement.
The 2014 California Contractor of the Year award upholds Webcor’s mission of providing superior service and represents their ability to operate and succeed in various markets due to their diverse range of projects and innovative work practices. As a leading builder of large-scale, high profile projects, Webcor is currently constructing projects for Samsung, IMAX, UC San Diego, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Other major projects include the new San Francisco General Hospital, the Silver Lake Reservoir Replacement, and several high rise residential projects inLos Angeles including Metropolis, a major development near LA Live! for the Greenland Group and the BLOC, a mixed-use urban development in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
Webcor adds the ENR award to its National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) General Contractor of the Year award earned earlier this year as well as a Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Project of Excellence award for its 41 Area project at Camp Pendleton.
“We are honored and very appreciative that Webcor has been selected to receive the 2014 California Contractor of the Year award,” said President and CEO Jes Pedersen. “We had a great year last year, and it feels great to be recognized for it. It energizes us and motivates us to keep having great years.”
Jes Pedersen was named Webcor’s President and CEO in 2012 and sought to refocus and redirect the company’s course of building more product types for a diversified client roster. Webcor has since distributed its resources into distinct market sectors including multifamily residential, commercial offices, interiors, public works, retail, parking structures, federal, education, and healthcare. The shift has proven successful as seen through the marked increase in revenue and several major contract awards in the last two years.
Earlier this year, the company announced the opening of a new office in Honolulu to add to its full-service locations in San Diego, Los Angeles, Alameda and San Francisco.
