Position Summary

Premier San Francisco builder who does over 1 billion annually in revenue is looking for their next leader of corporate safety.  The Vice President of Safety is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environment in a manner consistent with mandated regulations and company policies.

This position is to lead all aspects of safety at the executive and corporate level for the entire organization, with salary that can exceed $200k, full health benefits, bonus, vehicle allowance for the right candidate.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of all OSHA and Cal OSHA ………) and the ability to research standards, answer specific questions, and solve safety issues
  • Develop, revise and enforce company safety policy and ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and laws
  • Establish lines of communication in which all employees play an active role in safety compliance and addressing concerns
  • Day-to-day claims operations, including claims evaluation, adjudication, and management consistent with compliance standards
  • Develop and maintain task-based safety training on all projects

Job Site Specific:

  • Conduct audits ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Initiate, coordinate, and direct training specific to the job hazard analysis
  • Manage  the job site orientation process in regard to safety
  • Conduct accident investigation procedures and implement corrective processes
  • Interpret, analyze, and prepare documentation in regard to reports, contracts, and site-specific information
  • Professionally communicate and enforce company safety standards to subcontractors
  • Assure that adequate, properly trained personnel are available to carry out required functions safely on all projects and prospective projects

Training:

  • Develop in furthering the safety education of all members of the staff by formal classes, seminars, workshops, or sharing information
  • Anticipate project safety needs and assist  Safety Directors, Safety Managers, Superintendents / Project Managers with required safety training.
  • Monitor Corporate Safety communication to maintain training effectiveness such as signage, toolbox meetings, etc.
  • Communicate professionally with all levels of personnel
  • Implement change processes and effectively manage resistance

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Construction Safety Management or equivalent training
  • OSHA 500 certification
  • CSP or CHST preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive responsibilities in areas of field safety and health program management
  • Commitment to continual development and renewal of required certifications
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and recognize safety standards and issues
  • Computer skills consistent with generating safety reports, data analysis, and communications
