An established specialty contractor serving industrial, commercial, manufacturing, cold-storage, and technically complex construction markets is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to join its executive leadership team.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will provide leadership across operations, project execution, field performance, workforce development, safety, and overall business performance. This executive will help drive operational excellence, strengthen accountability, develop future leaders, and support the company’s long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operational performance across project management, field operations, safety, and support functions.
  • Drive accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives are achieved.
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor operational performance, profitability, resource utilization, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop and mentor operational leaders while building organizational depth and succession plans.
  • Support major client relationships, strategic pursuits, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within construction, industrial services, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-driven environments.
  • 5+ years of senior operational leadership experience with responsibility for multiple teams, projects, or business units.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a division, business unit, or organization generating $50M-$100M+ in annual revenue.
  • Proven P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability management, and operational performance oversight.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, workforce planning, operations management, safety, and financial performance.
  • Track record of improving operational performance, developing leaders, and implementing scalable processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
