The Division of Oncology and Hematology at Nebraska Medicine – the clinical partner of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha and one of the top cancer research and clinical programs in the world – is seeking an experienced Medical Oncologist and/or Hematologist with interest in General Hematology/Oncologyto join the expanding Nebraska Medicine Heartland Hematology and Oncology Clinic in Kearney, NE.
The division consists of 32 faculty members, has a fully accredited fellowship program, and based is in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Nebraska. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with more than 200 oncologists, translational and basic scientists working together fusing science and medicine to speed up breakthroughs in the lab and deliver state-of-the-art care to patients.
Applicants must have an MD, DO, or MBBS degree, board certification in Internal Medicine, and be board-certified/eligible in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology. The successful applicant will participate in the multidisciplinary clinical care of patients and the design and conduct of cancer clinical trials and will join a vibrant academic division in a university that has expanding clinical and research programs, located in an economically thriving community with a modest cost of living and outstanding school systems. - This faculty position will be 100% general Hematology/Oncology.
- Duties and responsibilities: Flexible, depending on the background of the candidate. The candidate will work alongside 2 full-time general oncology faculty members at the Heartland-Kearney Clinic; and will help manage patients and will assist in growing the patient population. Candidate should have a strong interest in rural health care (preferred, but not required).
- Travel for position: Possible occasional travel to additional satellite clinics.
- The Heartland-Kearney Clinic has 4 dedicated APPs, nurses, and additional support staff. Faculty members also have access to UNMC/Nebraska Medicine resources as needed. Educational opportunities and Leadership potential available.
- Call Schedule: Faculty members provide care through Nebraska Medicine and work 40 hours a week. An on-call physician is available onsite 24/7-shared with other faculty.
- The Nebraska Unicameral has allocated $60M, allowing more students to students and train in Kearney, NE.
