Job Title: Construction Safety Manager
Location: San Francisco, CA

We are looking for a Construction Safety Manager to join a top General Contractor based in San Francisco. The Construction Safety Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee safety audits, inspections, and reporting obligations both internally and externally. This includes the monthly reporting of site safety metrics. The manager will proactively plan, lead, evaluate, and continuously improve safe construction practices to foster a collaborative and integrated project culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with site leadership to establish safety objectives for the project.
  • Work with subcontractors to understand their safety requirements and incorporate them into the company’s plan as necessary.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices through effective safety management and collaboration with department leadership.

  • Develop and conduct safety orientation training programs for staff and craftsmen covering areas like forklift operation, fall protection, respiratory safety, and confined space protocols.

  • Organize and conduct training sessions on proper inspection, maintenance, and use of tools and specialized safety equipment.

  • Lead project pre-planning by conducting Safety Task Analysis (STA) and Job Hazards Assessment (JHA) before project mobilization.

  • Provide safety guidelines for the appropriate use of tools and equipment.

  • Perform regular work area inspections and audits to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards.

  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures at the assigned location.

  • Conduct weekly, monthly, and annual equipment inspections to maintain compliance.

  • Collaborate with site leadership in investigating and documenting accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions or activities.

  • Assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations in coordination with senior safety leadership.

  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to manage worker’s compensation cases and implement strategies to prevent loss-time accidents and benefits utilization.

  • Review documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of required records and reports, taking corrective action as needed.

  • Build strong relationships with all job site employees to ensure alignment with the safety program and encourage reporting of safety issues.

  • Participate in Project Lifecycle Safety Planning.

  • Establish location-specific best practices and foster communication with other Boldt locations to improve safety practices company-wide.

    Required Skills:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in construction and/or industrial safety is required.

  • First aid and/or CPR certification is preferred.

  • Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification is preferred.
