DMG medical specialists’ staff and practice in a 240-bed hospital that includes a Level lll NICU, Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, Arizona’s only nationally verified burn center – the Arizona Burn Center, a full complement of pediatric services, and 11 corresponding FQHC Community Health Centers across the Valley.
The Opportunity:
In a region growing as fast as Phoenix, building a pipeline of medical talent is imperative to caring for the communities we serve. To continue this trajectory, District Medical Group, in conjunction with Valleywise Health, seeks a physician leader specialized in family medicine to join the Valleywise FQHC System leadership team as Medical Director.
Valleywise Health has an ambulatory care system of community health centers (CHC) which are inclusive of family medicine services. The VW system also includes a strong internal referral network inclusive of most specialty/sub-specialty areas. The FQHC System Medical Director works very closely with the Family Medicine Department Chair and senior management of the Valleywise Health Ambulatory Care system from an operational standpoint. These CHCs are geographically dispersed throughout metropolitan Phoenix. Valleywise Health CHC’s are in areas chosen to provide care to the underserved population of Maricopa County and are classified as FQHCs. The VW system primarily serves a safety-net population and offers a full scope clinical practice, teaching opportunities, and community involvement.
The Candidate:
The FQHC System Medical Director is responsible for clinical leadership and direction to ensure all clinical care provided at all Valleywise FQHCs meets the highest standard of care and achieves optimal outcomes. As a member of the Valleywise FQHC Ambulatory leadership team, this individual must be energetic with excellent leadership and communication skills and lead by example. This individual must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment, be operations-savvy, and thrive in an autonomous and fast-moving workplace.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications/Experience/Education:
- M.D. or D.O. medical degree from an accredited school is required.
- Board Certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Board of Osteopathic Family Medicine (ABOFM).
- Experience managing multiple clinical sites with a passion for operations.
- Experience with Community Health Centers.
- Committed and passionate about the underserved community.
- Academic/GME Experience preferred but not required.
- Possessing specialty expertise in Family Practice and demonstrate clinical competence as a practicing physician is required.
- Licensed or eligible to practice medicine in the state of Arizona is required upon hire.
