The Department of Family Medicine at TTUHSC El Paso Transmountain rests on a hillside in Northwest El Paso adjacent to the scenic Transmountain Drive, which connects Northwest and Northeast El Paso through the beautiful Franklin Mountains State Park. We serve a diverse suburban population from West El Paso, as well as areas extending into other areas of El Paso, West Texas, and Southern New Mexico. The department strives to alleviate the physician shortage of the Paso Del Norte region and is committed to providing a rich border-health and international perspective to residency training.

To continue this trajectory, faculty leaders in the Department of Family Medicine at the TTUHSC El Paso Transmountain Campus are actively recruiting for a full-time Family Medicine Residency Program Director to join the expanding department in El Paso, TX. The Family Medicine Residency Program Director will contribute to the university’s mission through teaching, research, and service while leading the strategic direction of the ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency program.

Professional Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Licensed in Texas, or eligible for medical license in the State of Texas
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine or Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine Physicians
  • A minimum of (3) years of clinical experience in Family Medicine
  • A minimum of (3) years of educational and/or administrative experience
  • A minimum of (2) years of experience as core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited family medicine residency program.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Graduate Medical Education (GME) administration
  • Experience in teaching medical students
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated track record in research and peer reviewed publications
  • Regional or emerging national recognition for the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor or Higher
  • A cross-cutting focus on rural health, underserved populations, and health disparities is strongly preferred.
