We’ve been retained by a late-stage biotechnology company advancing novel therapies for patients living with serious neuroinflammatory, autoimmune, and ophthalmic diseases. Their innovative platform targets the classical complement pathway upstream at C1q, with promising clinical programs across neurology and ophthalmology. As they continue to expand their Medical Affairs organization, they are seeking a Field Medical Director (MSL) – Ophthalmology for the Central Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with KOLs and Centers of Excellence through high-level scientific exchange
  • Serve as the medical and scientific expert across ophthalmology disease states, with a strong focus on retinal and ocular diseases
  • Communicate complex scientific data related to disease state education, treatment landscape, health economics, and company product data in a compliant and impactful manner
  • Collaborate with external experts on advisory boards, publications, research initiatives, peer-to-peer education, and investigator-initiated studies
  • Identify high-impact research opportunities, publication strategies, and health economics projects aligned with Medical Affairs priorities
  • Support clinical development activities through engagement with trial investigators, site identification, trial participation, and patient recruitment efforts
  • Partner with Patient Advocacy Organizations to ensure the patient voice is integrated into medical and scientific communications
  • Deliver scientific education to formulary decision makers, P&T committees, and payer stakeholders in alignment with compliance standards
  • Attend major regional, national, and international congresses to gather insights, share scientific data, and strengthen external engagement
  • Collaborate closely with internal Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams to ensure strong cross-functional alignment

Who They’re Looking For:

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO)
  • Prior Medical Science Liaison experience within Ophthalmology, Neuroscience, or Immunology is required
  • Strong expertise in retinal or ocular diseases with established KOL relationships in the space preferred
  • Demonstrated success in scientific exchange, medical strategy execution, and external stakeholder engagement
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex scientific data for diverse audiences
  • Deep understanding of clinical development, healthcare systems, and the evolving ophthalmology treatment landscape
  • Strong compliance mindset with the ability to work independently and effectively within a matrix organization
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region and periodically for national meetings
