Maranatha, a recognized Best College and Top Performer in Social Mobility, is seeking an academic nurse educator with a passion for nursing education and student success. This position will serve as a full-time Nursing Faculty with teaching responsibilities in the School of Nursing, with an expected start date in the Fall semester of 2026. This position may involve classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical instruction. The individual must meet all of the faith-based essentials for employment at Maranatha Baptist University.

Summary

A regular faculty academic load includes the following:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in the School of Nursing, with specific course assignments determined by the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and the department’s Responsibilities may include classroom instruction, clinical supervision, lab instruction, and simulation facilitation.
    • Workload includes 13-16 hours of teaching responsibility each semester or a yearly 26-32 credit load based on calculated workload credits.
    • Workload credits may vary depending on hours spent with students (for example, in lab or clinical), preparation, difficulty, and the number of students.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings, including in-service and post-service meetings, chapel, faculty meetings, faculty-staff meetings, and academic unit meetings
  • Academic advising for students within an academic program
  • Professional activity, committee membership, and participation in department projects
  • Campus awareness and enforcement of school policies
Essential Duties

An employee of Maranatha is expected to accomplish the University mission in various ways, including leading students in prayer, giving Biblical advice, mentoring in spiritual matters, and assisting students to develop Christian maturity. This leadership is achieved by the example set in one’s personal life and through direct communication with the students, and it must also be accomplished by the example you set in your personal life both at and away from the ministry.

  • Develop and teach assigned nursing class, lab, simulation, and/or clinical experiences using effective teaching-learning techniques and incorporating a Biblical perspective that aligns with the mission and outcomes of the School of Nursing and the University
  • Participate in departmental and institutional tasks as it relates to assigned courses, including curriculum review and course assessment
  • If teaching clinical, simulation, or lab experiences, supervise and evaluate students safely in that respective setting, maintaining compliance with School of Nursing and clinical site policies and requirements
  • Maintain professional competency through participation in continuing education programs and/or practical experiences
Instructional Duties
  • Develop nursing class, clinical, lab, or simulation curriculum as relevant to assigned courses
  • Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and perform evaluations of student learning for all assigned courses
  • Assign course grades and maintain course/student records following FERPA regulations; submit grades and records by established deadlines
  • Supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, lab, or simulation as appropriate for the course
  • Be available to students via email, phone, and personal conferences (contact method and hours of availability communicated to students through the course syllabus)
  • Engage in student recruitment and retention efforts, including personal involvement when deemed beneficial and consistent with institutional practices
  • Assist students with their plan of study and registration as an academic advisor
Program-level Responsibilities
  • Participate in nursing program-level learning assessment, including:
    • helping articulate learning outcomes
    • choosing and administering measures
    • evaluating student performance
    • suggesting changes to improve student learning
  • Work with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies, including participating in the APR process and the textbook selection process where appropriate
  • Attend all required meetings, offering suggestions concerning course offerings, program changes, curriculum development, and other matters when appropriate
  • Provide suggestions for library and equipment additions to the appropriate academic department
  • Maintain a professional and godly relationship with all University employees
Professional Development
  • Fully participate in the faculty evaluation process each academic
  • Remain current in an academic discipline, including maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements
  • Receive training and stay current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning
  • Participate in college professional development activities
Professional Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in Wisconsin as required by the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing (or eligible to obtain prior to hire), or a current unencumbered multistate license as a registered nurse under the Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Degree requirements:
    • Didactic/classroom teaching: Earned master’s degree in nursing required
    • Clinical, lab, simulation: Earned master’s degree in nursing preferred, exception may be made for a candidate with a Bachelor of Science in nursing (at the department’s discretion and pending state approval)
  • Three full years direct care experience as a practicing nurse
  • Hold an up-to-date knowledge and skill in the MS Office suite
  • Be willing to learn and use an electronic learning management system
  • Embrace an exemplary Christian testimony of spiritual maturity in the home and a local Baptist church
  • Preferred: Experience in nursing and/or adult education
