Responsibilities:
Designs, organizes, plans the program structure, and directs the new Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at TidalHealth. Maintains current knowledge of and compliance with ACGME Institutional and Program Requirements. Participates in Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), subcommittees and task forces (including program representation at all GMEC meetings), and internal review panels as requested. Curriculum development and oversees education and clinical care in all program-related patient care areas, as well as the organization of rotations, and other educational activities at all clinical sites that participate in the program. Maintains active clinical practice in Orthopaedic Surgery with Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates. Recruits, interviews, and selects the Orthopaedic Surgery Residents. Submits reports on program, faculty, and resident performance to the GMEC as requested by the Chair of the GMEC. Updates annually both program and resident records through the ACGME’s Accreditation Data System. Ensures the implementation of fair policies, grievance procedures, and due process, as established by the GMEC, and in compliance with the ACGME Institutional Requirements. Prepares an accurate statistical and narrative description of the program as requested by the Review Committee of the ACGME. Prepares for and participates in the on-site program reviews.
Position Requirements:
Clinically practicing physician (MD or DO degree) with current board certification by the American Board Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) in Orthopaedic Surgery , Trauma Board-certified is preferred, with evidence of periodic updates of knowledge and skills to discharge the roles and responsibilities for teaching, supervision, and formal evaluation of residents. Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland. Eligible for unrestricted Active Medical Staff Privileges at TidalHealth and Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates.
Experience/Skills:
At least three (3) years of documented educational and/or administrative experience, teaching residents or fellows. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for enduring accreditation as an ACGME-accredited program in Orthopaedic Surgery. A skilled clinician who prioritizes patient-centered care. Demonstration of professional behaviors that allow the Program Director to serve as a role model.
