UMass Memorial Health — the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and the largest health care system in central Massachusetts — is actively seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Ophthalmologist with Retina Sub-Specialty Fellowship training and experience in clinical research. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is growing its services and research in a community of one million people in central Massachusetts. This position provides an opportunity to develop a research career in the field of medical or surgical retina and to have a percentage of time dedicated to clinical practice. Unique features of the position:
- A majority of time dedicated to clinical research during the first 3 years, with potential for up to 50% clinical component thereafter.
- Opportunity to collaborate and conduct retina research in fields of epidemiology, risk factors, genetics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and ocular imaging.
- Can leverage large databases including case series, longitudinal data, multi-modal images, public databases, and on-site biorepositories.
- Will direct research projects, write manuscripts, present at scientific meetings, and may participate in clinical trials.
