We are searching for an experienced Senior Project Manager with a proven track record of successfully handling diverse clients for projects exceeding $50M+ in the San Francisco Bay area. We have various projects in San Francisco, the peninsula, South Bay, and East Bay that require your expertise. In new projects, you will play a crucial role in shaping the project scope and assembling a top-notch team, including architects, general contractors, engineers, and other essential consultants.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the representative and liaison with the owner, overseeing the strategic program and ensuring the delivery of tactical objectives to achieve the desired project outcome within a competitive budget, adhering to the schedule, and maintaining the desired quality.
  • Coordinate effectively with the Architect, Contractor, and other members of the project team, ensuring that project objectives are met and resolving any issues that arise at every stage of the project.
  • Attend meetings with the owner, architect, and contractor, diligently recording meeting notes and effectively managing follow-up action items.
  • Thoroughly review project construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals, becoming intimately familiar with the intentions and requirements of the owners and architects.
  • Develop, manage, and analyze the project schedule, covering design, permitting, approvals, construction, and fit-up phases.
  • Prepare estimates or support our in-house estimator by gathering budget and cost information for various aspects of the project.
  • Oversee and manage procedures for handling changes to the contract documents, monthly valuations, drawing submissions, change orders, requests for information (RFIs), substitutions, and other related aspects.
  • Conduct a site analysis focusing on safety, quality, and logistics.
  • Actively participate in value engineering sessions to find opportunities to optimize the design and reduce project costs.
  • Take charge of staff management, including formal management of an Assistant Project Manager/Project Management team, resource management, and recruitment.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Ideally, 7-12 years of experience with a reputable general contractor, consulting construction management, or development firm.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and MS Project.
  • Previous experience in ground-up construction within the commercial real estate sector is highly desirable, with a significant advantage if you’ve worked on projects involving hospitals, labs, or other complex structures.
  • Prior experience working on projects in the US, with particular preference for project experience in California, especially in the SF Bay Area.
