The Superintendent will lead field operations on technically complex commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This individual will be responsible for coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, driving quality, and ensuring all work is executed safely and efficiently. Success in this role requires experience managing sophisticated building systems and highly coordinated projects such as healthcare, life sciences, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, mission critical, pharmaceutical, or similar technical facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead all field operations throughout every phase of construction.
- Develop and execute daily and short-term work plans to support the overall project schedule.
- Coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades to maintain productivity and minimize conflicts.
- Manage installation activities for complex building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty infrastructure.
- Work closely with Project Managers to align field operations with project budgets, procurement, and scheduling objectives.
- Identify and resolve field challenges before they impact project milestones.
- Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor safety, quality, productivity, and overall project progress.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship by ensuring construction complies with project drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning activities, punch list completion, and project turnover.
- Lead subcontractor meetings to communicate priorities, sequencing, and upcoming milestones.
- Maintain complete and accurate field documentation, including daily reports, site observations, and progress updates.
- Foster strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and trade partners.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the jobsite.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety expectations while reinforcing proactive safety practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of Superintendent experience managing commercial construction projects.
- Proven experience delivering technically demanding facilities, including healthcare, life sciences, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, mission critical, pharmaceutical, higher education research, or similar complex project types.
- Strong understanding of commercial building systems with the ability to coordinate complex MEP installations.
- Experience managing projects with phased construction, occupied environments, clean spaces, or other operational constraints is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success leading subcontractors on fast-paced, schedule-driven projects.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination documents.
- Experience using Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar construction management platforms.
- Thorough understanding of construction scheduling, quality control, and project sequencing.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to travel as project assignments require.
