We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations for commercial construction projects throughout Texas & Louisiana. This position requires regular travel to project sites across these markets.
The Superintendent will manage day-to-day construction activities from preconstruction and mobilization through project closeout. The role is responsible for coordinating field teams and subcontractors, maintaining the project schedule, monitoring quality and safety, managing site logistics, and partnering with the Project Manager to keep work aligned with budget and contractual requirements.
This position serves as a primary point of coordination in the field and works closely with owners, tenants, design professionals, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily field operations and coordinate subcontractors, trades, vendors, and site personnel.
- Participate in owner and tenant meetings to review construction requirements, build-out options, constructability, cost considerations, and project expectations.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and other design professionals throughout the project.
- Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using Microsoft Project, including key milestones from preconstruction through closeout.
- Plan sequencing, manpower needs, material deliveries, inspections, and site logistics to maintain project progress.
- Work closely with estimating and preconstruction teams to support accurate budgets, proposals, scopes, and project planning.
- Coordinate field staffing and assignments to ensure appropriate project coverage.
- Supervise field personnel and subcontractors, establish expectations, and monitor performance and productivity.
- Support the RFI and submittal process by identifying field issues and coordinating timely communication with the project and design teams.
- Track construction progress against the schedule and adjust sequencing or field activities when necessary to maintain deadlines.
- Partner with the Project Manager to review job costs, identify potential variances, and develop practical solutions that support project financial goals.
- Lead and participate in regular project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to review progress, upcoming work, site conditions, and potential challenges.
- Verify that completed work meets contract documents, project specifications, quality standards, and approved plans.
- Enforce company safety requirements and applicable OSHA standards across the jobsite.
- Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, work completed, deliveries, site conditions, materials, and other relevant project activity.
- Build productive working relationships with field teams and project partners to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience, including significant experience with interior build-outs, renovations, or tenant improvement projects.
- 2+ years of experience in a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or comparable field leadership position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and field operations.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing multiple trades simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related technology; experience with Microsoft Project preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is beneficial but not required.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and field leadership skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to project locations throughout the Southeast and Texas.
