An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Water / Wastewater Practice Leader to provide strategic leadership for its municipal infrastructure business across the Southeast. This role oversees practice growth, client development, team leadership, and project execution while ensuring the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the Water / Wastewater practice, including strategic planning, operations, and overall business performance.
- Develop and execute initiatives that support continued growth throughout the Southeast.
- Build, mentor, and lead engineering, project management, and design teams.
- Foster and strengthen relationships with municipalities, utilities, and other public-sector clients.
- Identify new business opportunities and support proposal development, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
- Review project scopes, schedules, staffing plans, and budgets to support successful project delivery and financial performance.
- Coordinate resources across multiple offices to balance workloads and meet project deadlines.
- Partner with leaders across other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Monitor practice performance, including profitability, utilization, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Represent the firm through professional organizations, conferences, and industry events while expanding its presence within the municipal infrastructure market.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in water and wastewater engineering.
- Demonstrated success leading engineering teams or technical practice groups.
- Strong business development skills with an established network of municipal or utility clients.
- Experience managing project financial performance, staffing, and resource planning.
- Thorough understanding of planning, design, and delivery of municipal water and wastewater projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to develop strategic growth plans while maintaining a high standard of project delivery
