After beefing up its West Coast presence, GenSpring Family Offices, an affiliate of SunTrust, is plotting even more expansion, looking to Texas as a potential new market.GenSpring now has 14 office locations, mostly along the East Coast. The firm has recently made moves to build up its West Coast and Southern presence, including opening a new family office in Los Angeles, expanding an existing office in San Francisco, and adding managing directors to Atlanta, Charlotte N.C., and Nashville offices.
Along with the energy boom, a business-friendly regulatory regime has also buoyed the market for businesses and ultra-wealthy investors, making the state an attractive place to be for family office shops catering to such investors, says Tim White, managing partner of Kaye/Bassman International, a Dallas-based recruitment firm.”The landscape is competitive, there’s no doubt about it. But it’s a growing pie,” White says.
