Job Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Dallas, TX
Kaye/Bassman has partnered with a Dallas-based Construction Manger firm growing their construction finance team. The Assistant Controller will have responsibilities that include:
- Oversee Project Accounting operations for construction services projects.
- Prepare construction payment applications and other invoices as required by contracts.
- Track costs and expenses for each construction project and ensure that costs are within budget.
- Prepare job cost analyses by interpreting projects’ financial data and information on construction services projects.
- Produce Executive level/ Management level job cost reports necessary to share accurate financial position.
- Develop and implement key performance indicators to demonstrate current state on construction project performance and detect potential issues.
- Work closely with Operations to provide clear visibility for each project.
- Review and understand relevant documents including but not limited to contracts, subcontracts, conditional and unconditional lien waivers, certificates of insurance and agreements pertaining to construction transactions.
- Establish, monitor and enforce comprehensive internal controls.
- Maintain or establish policies and procedures as needed.
- Execute, oversee and approve monthly and annual accounting close procedures and deliverables to include journal entries, reconciling accounts, managing checklists, distributing reports and any other items requested.
- Assist with audits as required.
- Provide guidance and support to Project Accounting staff.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements for each project.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors.
Requirements
- Comprehension of construction and processes, especially Revenue and Cost of Goods Sold as it relates to construction draws.
- Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in construction accounting; prior management experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with a construction-related ERP system.
- Experience dealing with foreign currency.
