Job Title: MEP Construction Manager
Location: San Francisco, CA

Our client is looking for a MEP Construction Manager to join their San Francisco team. You will oversee the work of general contractors and specialty work for the Owner from pre-design through closeout

Responsibilities

  • Provide support during both pre-construction and project phases by reviewing trade partners’ estimates and costs concerning design changes.
  • Take on responsibilities encompassing estimating support, reviewing subcontractor bids, creating schedules, managing project logistics, and conducting constructability reviews related to MEP systems.
  • Take charge of facilitating communication between the owner and architect during the planning and installation of the following systems: HVAC, electrical, automation, plumbing, process piping, low voltage systems, fire/life safety, and fire protection design/construction coordination (including both validated and non-validated systems).
  • Participate in the assessment of all MEP-related shop drawings and submittals.
  • Aid in the formulation of commissioning plans for all MEP systems, outlining test requirements, necessary inspections, factory start-up of major equipment, factory acceptance testing, project and vendor documentation prerequisites, and comprehensive integrated test plans showcasing full system operations.
  • Supervise the coordination of MEP systems throughout the project’s virtual design and construction process.
  • Be responsible for on-site construction support for MEP systems, overseeing start-up, balancing, commissioning, and validation certification for these systems, which includes owner training and final project closure.
  • Develop and oversee project-specific MEP quality and safety programs, including leading safety cause mapping for post-MEP safety incidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of MEP means and methods.
  • Capable of collaborating with various stakeholders to identify and resolve intricate issues in relation to MEP design and construction.
  • Proficient in conducting complex meetings involving multiple participants, promptly issuing meeting minutes, and ensuring follow-up on deliverables from participants.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of fire/life safety and fire sprinkler systems, as well as their integration with mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
  • Familiarity with the testing and balancing process and its requirements.
  • Comprehend building automation systems and sequences as they pertain to MEP, along with MEP-related safety regulations.
