The University of Kentucky Division of Pediatric Radiology is rebuilding and seeks exceptional pediatric radiologists for:

  • Vice-Chair for Comprehensive Pediatric Radiology Services
  • Pediatric Radiology Division Chief
  • Two Pediatric Radiology faculty

This new model is 7 on/14 off; working on-site Monday – Friday, and taking “call” during the 7 on. The division’s workload is supported by pediatric radiologists at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

UK Radiology is comprised of 71 faculty (including 3 physicists), 10 divisions, 32 diagnostic radiology residents, and 10 fellows.

The successful candidate for the position(s) must have an MD/DO degree (or equivalent) and be board-certified or board-eligible by The American Board of Radiology. Subspecialty training and/or experience, as well as fluoroscopy skills, would be a plus. Academic rank will depend on qualifications. All full-time faculty are expected to work exclusively for the University of Kentucky.

The “7 days/24 hours on – 14 days off” model includes:
  • Full-time, On-site, daytime, M-F, Seven (7) day call. Off two (2) weeks.
  • GI, and GU fluoro procedures, interpretations, teaching medical students & residents, staffing multidisciplinary conferences, and so on.
  • During weekend/holiday daytime, reporting remotely from home (we provide the home workstation).
  • During all evenings and nights, and on weekends/holidays: On-call to come in for urgent fluoro procedures (~1 per week on average).
  • All paid time off, including professional development time, academic time, and administrative time (if serving in such role).
Pediatric Radiology workload:
  • Key to this position(s) is that the Pedi Rad workload is more general in nature.
  • Pediatric Radiology expertise is critical for neonates and inpatients, as well as non-accidental trauma, bone age.
Opportunity for Academic Appointment:
  • Rank adjustments currently offered include: $25K to annual base salary for Associate Professor and $60K for Professor.
  • A joint appointment is offered within the Kentucky Children’s Hospital, which is tangibly integrated into UK’s Chandler Medical Center.
