A small, high-growth medical device company is adding a strategic marketing role to their team. Their novel products transform how complex orthopedic, trauma and spine surgeries are done. The clinical data is strong about how this improves patient outcomes and also has human factor benefits for the surgical team. They are growing and are expanding their strategic marketing team with a newly created upstream marketing role.

In this role, you’ll drive upstream marketing and new product development in spine, orthopedics and other future indications. This role owns strategy for a large portfolio the prevents surgical complications and improves patient outcomes. There are both hardware and software elements to the devices. This role will involve routine time with senior leadership, coaching and mentoring opportunities and strong career development.

The Opportunity:
In this Product Manager role, you’ll work closely with R&D/engineering to design, develop and launch products for a large and expanding portfolio. You will own VOC activities, capture physician feedback and create segmentation/positioning for both hardware and software medical devices. You will also determine unmet needs and build business cases for both new offerings and next gen products. You’ll optimize the portfolio, create go-to-market strategies and launch plans for multiple upcoming launches. You’ll also work on long-range portfolio strategy to evaluate the technology for other indications and unmet needs.

If you’re someone who enjoys working cross functionally with engineering, R&D and marketing, this is a good fit role. You’ll focus on modelling the market, segmentation, pricing, competitive intelligence and opportunity assessment. You’ll work in cross-functional teams with marketing, sales, medical affairs, regulatory and other departments.

This role reports into the Director of Upstream Marketing; the team is small, the culture rewards innovation and the company is rapidly growing. The hiring manager has a focus on coaching and mentoring and career development is strong in the growing org chart.

The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
• 5+ years of medical device marketing experience
• Experience with upstream marketing and go-to-market strategy
• Experience with surgical med device products, knowledge of spine or orthopedics is a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA strongly preferred

This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a hybrid in office/remote set up. A generous compensation and benefits package is provided and relocation assistance is available.

Their compensation package includes a competitive base salary and annual target bonus. The annual base salary range offered for this position at the start of employment is anticipated to be between $93,000-$140,000 per year DOE.
