A profitable market-leading global medical device/connected health company is adding new strategy professionals to their global innovation team. Their revenues grew double-digit YOY last year, with strong growth predicted for 2025 and beyond as well. Their $19B product portfolio includes digital medical device and SaMD products that treat multiple conditions in cardiology, diabetes and neurology.
This standalone business unit works across the entire connected health portfolio, across multiple divisions. This unique structure allows the team to own strategy and innovation with a broad, companywide focus to continuously improve patient outcomes. The team acts like a startup within this global Fortune 500 company, which means high-visibility projects, dynamic work across disease states and routine interactions with the company’s executive leadership.
The products include implantable connected devices, biowearables, SaMD and clinical decision support software. Future product developments include a strong focus on AI and ongoing software innovation. The products are market leaders with a high degree of technical and clinical complexity and strong growth forecasted.
The Opportunity:
The team is adding a newly created Associate Director of Strategy and Innovation position. In this role, you will lead early phase commercial assessment, product concept, Voice of Customer and go-to-market strategy for multiple flagship products. You will interact extensively with Key Opinion Leaders, staying abreast of clinical trends and translating their clinical needs into product specifications. You will identify global market opportunities, understand the competitive environment, develop go-to-market strategy and ultimately be responsible for the ongoing success of these high-growth products.
The team is small and growing, so acts in an intrapreneurial manner embedded in the larger company organization. You’ll work broadly across multiple disease states and conditions with an eye to unmet needs. There’s a high-visibility management component to the role with executive leaders including the c-suite, so excellent influencing and communication skills are required. You’ll work closely with software engineers, R&D and regulatory cross functional teams, so you’ll need the ability to translate VOC into product requirements. Their rapidly expanding organization means there are significant opportunities for career development and advancement.
You’re a good fit for this role if you like to work in a dynamic, broad role in a growing org chart. You’re someone who wants to deeply understand HCP and patient journeys, especially for digital and connected medical devices. Expertise in biopharma/MedTech/Biotech with FDA-regulated software product is a must with a strong preference for AI/Machine learning experience. There’s a special interest in adding someone to the team who has previous clinical experience, to bring a deep understanding of clinician workflow experience. While this is not a requirement, it is a strong plus for candidacy.
Overnight travel is estimated at 20%
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
- 12+ years of experience in strategic Biopharma/MedTech/Biotech marketing
- FDA regulated software strategic experience is a must
- Experience with data analytics, AI and Machine Learning are a plus
- Previous clinical experience is a plus
- A Bachelor’s Degree or better is required; an MBA is preferred
This position will be based in the Los Angeles Area with additional location options for a strong candidate in Chicago or Minneapolis. Financial assistance is available for relocation support.
The compensation package includes a large annual target bonus and a generous equity package. The annual base salary range offered for this position at the start of employment is anticipated to be between $156,000-$293,000 per year.
