The Division of Oncology and Hematology at Nebraska Medicine – the clinical partner of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha and one of the top cancer research and clinical programs in the world – is seeking a highly motivated Medical Oncologist and/or Hematologist with interest in General Hematology/Oncology to join the expanding Nebraska Medicine Kearney Cancer Center in Kearney, NE. The division consists of 32 faculty members, has a fully accredited fellowship program, and is based in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Nebraska. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with more than 200 hematologists and oncologists, and translational and basic scientists, working together fusing science and medicine to speed up breakthroughs in the lab and deliver state-of-the-art care to cancer patients.

Faculty members in Kearney have opportunities to collaborate with physicians in Omaha to enroll patients in clinical trials to provide extraordinary patient-centric care. The successful applicant will join a vibrant academic division in a university that has expanding clinical and research programs, located in an economically thriving community with a modest cost of living and outstanding school systems.

NEW Nebraska Medicine Kearney Cancer Center (Primary work location):
  • 53,000 SF Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • Located on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus (University Village)
  • Occupancy late 2024 (approx.)
  • Video tour of future Nebraska Medicine Kearney Cancer Center, due to open to patients in December 2024.
Opportunity Highlights – General Hematology/Oncology Physician:
  • This faculty position will be 100% General Hematology Oncology and will work alongside two (2) full-time general oncology and hematology faculty members.

Professional Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have an MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine.
  • American Board Certification or Eligibility in a Hematology and/or Medical Oncology related specialty.
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Nebraska by date of hire.
