To continue growing our UME and GME footprint, HCA East Florida GME Division is seeking an experienced and dynamic physician leader to head the inaugural ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology (GI) fellowship program [2 fellows per year, 6 total] at HCA Florida Westside Hospital/Northwest Hospital as Program Director.

By joining HCA Healthcare as a medical education leader, the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director will become part of the largest GME provider in the United States and will have the opportunity to help shape the direction and goals of medical education at the Division and at the national level.

GI Fellowship Program Highlights:
  • GI Protected Time: [2 fellows per year, 6 fellows total] 0.3-0.4 FTE Administration and leadership of the program and 0.6-0.7 FTE Clinical; the position will be supported by an APD. Eligibility for affiliate academic appointment.

Your Qualifications for the Position:

The GI Fellowship Program Director will be eligible for an affiliate academic appointment. The Program Director will be part of the overall GME leadership within the HCA Healthcare East Florida Division and will collaborate with other Program Directors, GME Directors, Hospital Leadership, and a variety of other stakeholders to assure the highest quality of education and the program.

This role gives the Program Director the opportunity to practice in his/her desired specialty at the primary and/or affiliated sites, under employment by HCA or one of its area specialty partners, as well as opportunities to engage in collaborative research and scholarship. Mid-level support available.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Terminal Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM), or hold credentials deemed equivalent to Certification by the ACGME’s Internal Medicine RRC
  • At least three (3) years of educational and/or GME administrative experience post residency
  • Demonstrated clinical competence as a practicing physician
  • Unrestricted credentials within HCA Florida and be licensed or eligible to practice medicine by the state of Florida.
