▶ Watch a short video overview of this opportunity
1. Company
Our client is a privately held, multinational pharmaceutical group with more than a century of history and a fast-growing U.S. oncology division built through a combination of in-house R&D and targeted acquisition. The organization has quickly established itself as a serious competitor in breast oncology and rare hematologic malignancy, commercializing two FDA-approved therapies while advancing a deep pipeline of combination studies and early-stage assets. As one industry watcher put it, “the oncology player nobody saw coming — and now can’t stop watching.”
2. The Role They Will Play
This field-facing role is a trusted scientific partner to payer and population-health decision-makers, translating clinical and economic evidence into real influence on access. Beyond classic scientific exchange, the role builds a routine, field-driven capability for real-world evidence and outcomes research projects with external partners — a genuine differentiator from traditional liaison functions built solely around information delivery. This is a ground-floor seat on a function being built from scratch, with a clear, if not guaranteed, runway to lead a growing team within the next several years.
3. Background Profile
The ideal candidate brings genuine ownership experience in health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence — not just exposure to it — along with the strategic and communication instincts to operate independently at a senior level. Specifically:
- Expertise in field-based health economics, outcomes research (HEOR), and real-world evidence (RWE) program development.
- 5-7+ years’ Experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry in an HEOR liaison or combined payer/HEOR capacity, including 2+ years leading HEOR/RWE projects directly.
- Exposure to oncology therapeutic areas; breast oncology experience is a plus but not required — therapeutic depth can be trained.
- Working Knowledge of payer and PBM formulary dynamics, managed care and institutional decision-making, and value-based contracting.
- Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or DNP) or equivalent experience required; a master’s degree in a scientific research discipline (e.g., MS, MPH) is preferred.
