Program Director – Internal Medicine
OPTI-West – San Antonio Regional Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program
Western University of Health Sciences
Upland, California (Los Angeles Inland Empire Metro Area)

Join the leadership at one of the newest ACGME Internal Medicine residencies in Southern California!

OPTI-West, the leading GME provider and educational consortium in the western U.S., the Sponsoring Institution for San Antonio Regional Hospital (SARH) (Upland, CA), is launching a new ACGME Internal Medicine Residency program.

We are a supportive organization with extensive resources and are seeking an Internal Medicine physician educator (DO, MD) to contribute to the development of the inaugural Internal Medicine Residency Program at San Antonio Regional Hospital (SARH) through WesternU College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) and COMP-Northwest in the Los Angeles Inland Empire Metro Area.

The new Internal Medicine residency will be the first of many residency and fellowship programs at SARH and the first residency program to be part of the Western University Faculty Plan. This GME partnership continues to build and train internists in the highly competitive Southern California region, with the goal of retaining providers, expanding access to quality care in rural areas, and establishing SARH as a major teaching hospital.

The Internal Medicine Residency Program Director will have a strong interest in GME and will play a vital role in amplifying our longstanding commitment to GME by positioning the Internal Medicine residency as a premier training program in Southern California. The anticipated launch date for the ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program is expected on or around June 2025, and will have a total of 10 residents per year.

WesternU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) and COMP-Northwest have a 100% residency placement rate, which is higher than the average for other medical schools. WesternU is also recognized for its primary care graduates and commitment to serving rural areas.
