The University of Florida Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a motivated and compassionate Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist to join our team as a full-time faculty member. Academic track (tenure or non-tenure track) and rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) will be based on qualifications. The position will also include responsibilities as the Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship. Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinical team consists of seven clinical faculty, three fellows, six ambulatory advanced practice providers, 12 ultrasound technicians, two perinatal nurse navigators, and one genetic counselor. Care is provided at three ambulatory offices and one hospital facility, UF Health Shands Hospital, which has been designated a Level IV maternal care verified facility by the Joint Commission’s Maternal Levels of Care Verification program.

As a perinatologist, this individual will carry out the division’s missions of patient care, education, and research. The MFM Fellowship Program Director has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for: administration and operations, teaching and scholarly activity oversight, fellow recruitment and selection, oversight of fellows, and fellows’ education in the context of patient care. The Fellowship Director is also responsible for the standards, quality, reputation, and ongoing improvement of the MFM Fellowship Program while remaining compliant with institutional and ACGME program requirements. This will include appropriate protected time.

MFM faculty participate in assigned hospital, medical school, and department committees; attend and support department activities (rounds, special lectures, postgraduate courses, etc.); and participate in division conferences and fellowship activities. Scholarly activities and collaborative research activities are encouraged and there is room for professional growth within the institution. There are numerous opportunities to establish or join multidisciplinary collaborations to address research involving fundamental questions of biology and clinical care. The University of Florida has a long and distinguished history of reproductive and perinatal research across multiple colleges of the University.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology clinics serve our community with nearly 60,000 patient visits and over 3,100 deliveries a year. UF Health Shands Hospital is consistently recognized as a Top 50 Hospital for Obstetrics & Gynecology by U.S. News & World Report. The Division performs over 16,000 ultrasound exams annually in our American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine-accredited unit. Professional Qualifications:
  • Medical Degree or equivalent required.
  • Active or eligible Florida medical license will be required prior to commencement of employment.
  • American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) board certified or eligible.
  • Completion of an approved fellowship and board certified or eligible in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
