The Opportunity
Candidate Qualifications
Required Education: Graduate from an accredited college of allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Required Licenses/Certifications: -
Valid, unencumbered Virginia Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine License or an equivalent license issued by another state and eligibility for a Virginia license, which must be obtained within six months of employment. -
Board certification in Psychiatry. - Possession of a valid, unencumbered Controlled Substance Registration certificate issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration, schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4 and 5.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Four (4) years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist in a behavioral health setting, including experience providing clinical supervision. Possesses up-to-date clinical practice of psychiatry, including the recovery model, strengths-based treatment, dual diagnosis treatment, with client/family involvement. Knowledgeable in the application of a variety of effective behavioral health treatment modalities utilized in a comprehensive community-based prevention and treatment system. Expertise in the evaluation of evidenced-based mental health and alcohol and drug use treatment programs and services. Experienced with behavioral health problems and issues in relation to the development and delivery of behavioral health services. Practiced in the principles, practices, and methodology for developing, implementing, and administering behavioral health services. Able to interpret Federal, State, and County laws and regulations applicable to mental health and substance use programs, and the relationship of federal and State programs to local government services and programming.
