A leading commercial concrete contractor is seeking an experienced executive to provide strategic and operational leadership for a multi-state region serving Northern Virginia, Maryland, and the Washington, DC metro area.
This individual will be responsible for the overall performance of the region, including financial results, operations, preconstruction, client development, and organizational leadership. The Regional Vice President will guide long-term growth while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. Success in this role requires balancing strategic planning with hands-on leadership across all phases of the business.
Primary Responsibilities
Regional Leadership
- Direct overall business performance across the assigned territory.
- Develop initiatives that expand market presence and strengthen long-term revenue opportunities.
- Establish operating objectives and ensure teams are aligned around measurable goals.
- Evaluate regional performance and implement strategies that improve execution and profitability.
- Create accountability throughout operational and support functions.
Project & Operational Excellence
- Provide executive oversight for project execution from startup through closeout.
- Support project teams in maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations.
- Coordinate resources across operations, field leadership, and estimating to maximize efficiency.
- Review operational metrics and identify opportunities to improve productivity, consistency, and scalability.
- Promote collaboration between office and field teams.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing leaders across operations, estimating, and client development.
- Build organizational depth through succession planning and leadership development.
- Foster a culture centered on ownership, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear expectations while empowering leaders to make informed decisions.
Client Development & Market Growth
- Cultivate relationships with general contractors, developers, owners, and industry partners.
- Identify new opportunities within existing and emerging markets.
- Support strategic pursuits by collaborating with estimating and operations during project planning.
- Help prioritize opportunities that align with the company’s capabilities and growth strategy.
- Strengthen long-term client partnerships that generate repeat business.
Preconstruction Leadership
- Provide oversight of estimating and preconstruction activities.
- Ensure project pricing reflects market conditions, operational capacity, and project risk.
- Encourage early collaboration with clients to support budgeting, planning, and value-driven solutions.
- Improve communication between estimating and operations to create seamless project transitions.
- Promote consistency in proposal development, scope evaluation, and pricing methodology.
Financial Management
- Maintain responsibility for regional financial performance, including profitability and cost management.
- Partner with accounting and finance teams to review forecasting, work-in-progress reporting, and cash flow.
- Monitor labor productivity and operational performance to improve financial outcomes.
- Utilize reporting and performance data to support informed business decisions.
Safety & Operational Standards
- Reinforce a culture where safety is a core business priority.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead by example in promoting professionalism, accountability, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Significant leadership experience within commercial concrete construction or a comparable specialty contracting environment.
- Demonstrated success managing regional operations, multiple offices, or a large business unit.
- Strong understanding of project delivery, estimating, and operational management.
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Experience leading organizations with direct profit and loss responsibility.
- Financially savvy with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
- Familiarity with the Northern Virginia and greater Washington, DC construction market is highly
