Position Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will serve as a trusted scientific partner to healthcare providers, researchers, and key stakeholders in the hematology/oncology community. This field-based role will focus on delivering scientific exchange, supporting clinical development programs, and generating insights to inform Terns’ strategy as TERN-701 progresses through pivotal trials. The Sr. MSL will be a critical interface between the company and external experts, ensuring alignment of scientific messaging and supporting successful trial execution and future product launch readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scientific Exchange & Education
    • Develop and foster effective and trusting peer-level relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs), investigators, and healthcare decision-makers in hematology/oncology.
    • Maintain clinical, scientific and technical expertise in CML.
    • Communicate accurate, balanced, and timely scientific and clinical information about TERN-701 and other pipeline assets.
    • Collaborate to advance Medical Affairs initiatives by providing scientific expertise and support to scientific communication plan, medical education initiatives, advisory boards, and medical congress activities.
    • Facilitate research collaborations such as investigator-initiated trials. Provide medical interpretation of data from clinical trials, registries, and published literature in CML
    • Perform medical/scientific training for internal stakeholders (as applicable).
  • Clinical Development Support
    • Identify and engage potential clinical trial investigators and research sites for pivotal studies.
    • Provide scientific support for ongoing trials, including discussion of study rationale, protocol design, enrollment strategies, and providing end of study data reviews with investigators (as needed).
    • Collect and communicate clinical insights from investigators and study staff to inform development decisions.
  • Medical Affairs Insights
    • Gather, analyze, and share scientific intelligence on therapeutic landscape, competitor activity, and unmet medical needs to support the development of therapeutic strategy
  • Independently incorporates the medical plan into interactions and territory planning (i.e. listening priorities) and captures valuable feedback to inform internal stakeholders and assist in shaping the medical strategy. Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to inform strategic planning. Contribute to publication planning, medical education, and pre-launch activities for TERN-701.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific/clinical degree required (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent).
  • 5–7+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs, preferably with 3+ years as an MSL in hematology/oncology.
  • Strong knowledge of CML, targeted therapies, and oncology clinical trial design.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with TLs and investigators at academic centers and community practices.
  • Exemplifies a strong patient-centric approach, grounded in the highest standards of medical professionalism
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and scientific acumen skills.
  • Agile, adaptable, results orientated
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment. Ability to travel frequently (60–70% depending on territory needs).
