USA Health — the region’s only academic health system — is expanding its ENT / otolaryngology services along the Gulf Coast to care for the unique needs of our community. The Department of Surgery at the University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine and USA Health are seeking an innovative and collaborative Otolaryngology (ENT) Surgeon to help guide the growth of a dynamic academic ENT division serving the vibrant Gulf Coast region. This Otolaryngology (ENT) Surgery faculty position at the assistant, associate, or professor level is based in the coastal destination city of Mobile, Alabama.

The division’s long-term goals are to recruit other specialized ENT surgeons in all areas of the specialty and develop an ENT residency program.

This role addresses the increasing demand for ENT services (pediatric and adult) and offers the opportunity to contribute to departmental expansion while providing meaningful education and mentorship to residents and medical students.

Key Responsibilities and Milestone Accomplishments for the ENT Surgeon Role
  • Lead comprehensive ENT surgical care and treatment, and engage in educational activities
  • By three months, begin operating and seeing patients in clinic
  • By six months, comfortably integrate into the team and start teaching residents
  • By one year, establish a strong practice and improve patient care delivery
  • Collaborate with other medical practitioners
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet the goals and mission of USA Health
Professional Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree
  • Completion of a residency or fellowship in Otorhinolaryngology
  • Certification by the American Board of Otolaryngology
  • Valid license to practice medicine in the state of Alabama, upon hire
  • Preferred Expertise in Otolaryngology (ENT) with a working knowledge of advanced surgical techniques. (special interest in skull-based surgery preferred)
