Seeking a Division Chief of Breast Imaging to lead a busy, existing group of 14 fellowship-trained breast imagers and a growing mammography division in a Comprehensive Breast Center and Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence.

UMass Memorial Health, the major teaching and academic affiliate of UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA, is actively recruiting for a Board-certified, fellowship-trained Chief of Breast Imaging.

Under the leadership of the Chair of Radiology, Dr. Max Rosen, this system-wide appointment will lead the division, which performs over 90,000 breast imaging studies/procedures per year across 12 sites throughout central Massachusetts.

The Division Chief of Breast Imaging will bring extensive expertise and have a broad range of opportunities to make a positive impact in the communities served.

The primary venue of the Comprehensive Breast Center is NAPBC-accredited and offers state-of-the art imaging equipment. All community sites are recognized as Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence by the ACR.

Breast Imaging Division:
  • Performs approximately 42,000 mammograms, 5,000 dedicated breast ultrasounds, 500 breast MRIs and 4,000 Interventional procedures each year.
  • Functions in a completely digital environment with both Aurora and 3T breast MRI systems, 3 tomosynthesis units, 5 ultrasound suites and a dedicated coned beam breast CT unit.
  • The environment requires our new Breast Imaging Radiologist to be able to perform a full range of breast imaging and interventions.
About our Department:
  • Our department is comprised of ~80 Radiologists, 20 residents, 9 fellows and 15 PhDs. Our ED group is comprised of a highly specialized team of 15.
  • Our health system covers over one million lives and is a Level 1 Trauma Center with 95,000 ED visits per year.
  • Our department has over $6M/year in research funding. Academic pursuits are encouraged and supported both in the realms of research and education.
  • Our department has state-of-the-art imaging equipment, AGFA PACS system, EPIC EMR, Tera-Recon image processing software, Powerscribe 360, and is running several AI algorithms.
Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Fellowship training in breast imaging or the equivalent is required.
  • American Board of Radiology Certified with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state, prior to date of hire.
  • Academic rank is anticipated to be at Associate Professor level or higher.
