Job Title: Product Manager–Surgical Med Device

A small, high-growth medical device company is adding a strategic marketing role to their team. Their novel products transform patient procedures for complex orthopedic, trauma and spine surgeries. Their products provide strong clinical data showing improvements in patient outcomes and also have human factor benefits for the surgical team. The company has ~500 employees and is privately held. They’ve experienced strong growth and financial stability. Their setup offers the nimble and growing workstyle of a startup with the resources and dependability of a steady, 40+ year private company history.
They are growing and are expanding their strategic marketing team with a newly created downstream marketing role. In this role, you’ll drive adoption for innovative products in spine, orthopedics and other future indications. This role will involve routine time with senior leadership, coaching and mentoring opportunities and strong career development.
The Opportunity:
In this newly created Product Manager role, you will develop and implement marketing strategies and programs to grow the market. You’ll develop branding, positioning and messaging as well as creating collateral materials. You’ll develop KOLs and educate customers and the sales team on the portfolio’s benefits and features. You will also gather commercial data to track portfolio growth and competitive intelligence for the segment. You’ll own both strategy and tactics for the portfolio, this is a high visibility assignment in the company and in the industry.
Strong presentation skills and executive presence are a must for this position, you will be routinely presenting to executive leadership. The team is small and there’s much to define. If you enjoy building and expanding marketing programs with a broad influence, this role might be a good fit for you. You will partner closely with leadership as you consider how to best support the rapidly growing commercial footprint. You’ll work in cross-functional teams with marketing, sales, medical affairs, regulatory and other departments.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of commercial marketing experience in the med device industry
- Experience working with surgical med devices is a must, spine, orthopedic or trauma product experience is a plus
- A bachelor’s degree or better is required, MBA is preferred
This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a hybrid in office/work from home setup. Relocation assistance is available.
Their compensation package includes a competitive base salary and annual target bonus. The annual base salary range offered for this position at the start of employment is anticipated to be between $125,000-$165,000 per year DOE.
