Program Director – Psychiatry Residency Program
TriHealth Graduate Medical Education
Cincinnati, Ohio

TriHealth’s tradition of postgraduate medical education began in 1858 at Good Samaritan Hospital, the oldest and largest private teaching and specialty health care facility in Greater Cincinnati, and in 1947 at Bethesda North Hospital, a leading Cincinnati hospital. Today, TriHealth continues to lead in training the next generation of physicians, and is active in undergraduate medical education, accredited in graduate medical education, and committed to a curriculum of teaching and research that is innovative, applicable to practice, and responsive to community needs. TriHealth residency programs teach students in a nurturing environment that fosters development and success.

We are a supportive organization with extensive resources and are seeking a dynamic and visionary, board-certified Psychiatry physician educator to contribute to the development of the inaugural Psychiatry Residency Program at TriHealth in Cincinnati, Ohio. TriHealth is the 3rd largest employer in the region with 12,000+ diverse employees and consistently ranked among the top employers in the US. TriHealth has been recognized as a “Top 100 Integrated” Health System for more than a decade and designated a “Top 15 Health System” by Truven Health Analytics.

The Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program is responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and general administration of the Psychiatry Residency Program sponsored by TriHealth. The Program Director will support and amplify our longstanding commitment to Graduate Medical Education (GME) by positioning the Psychiatry Residency as a premier training program in Ohio and beyond. The anticipated launch date for the fully sponsored, ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program is expected to begin July 2027, and will accept a total of 24 residents. TriHealth GME continues to build and train in the highly competitive Cincinnati region, with the goal of retaining providers, expanding access to quality care in rural areas and establishing TriHealth as a major teaching hospital.

Psychiatry Residency Program and Behavioral Health at TriHealth
  • TriHealth takes patients’ behavioral health as seriously as their physical health while focusing on the treatment of the whole patient. We offer the spectrum of behavioral health services from treatment in primary care practices to patients who require inpatient treatment.
  • A $9 million, three-year bi3 investment supports TriHealth’s plans to expand the integration of behavioral health services into all pediatric and adult primary care locations, as well as introduce best-practice care models in other specialty areas, including obstetrics and oncology, throughout the system. This will ensure patients are receiving the necessary care for conditions ranging from anxiety to depression to suicidal thoughts.
  • The expansion of TriHealth’s cutting-edge integrated behavioral health consultant model of care made it among the first health systems in the nation to provide pediatric and adult patients with this comprehensive approach.
  • TriHealth’s Psychiatry Residency Program will help address the local and regional shortage of psychiatrists, creating a strong pipeline of the next generation of physicians who are more connected to our region and more likely to practice at TriHealth and in Greater Cincinnati.
  • The Psychiatry Residency Program will support access to high quality TriHealth psychiatrists to serve patients across a spectrum of care.
TriHealth GME Highlights
  • Eleven existing GME training programs (7 residencies, 4 fellowships) at Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospital.
  • The Designated Institutional Official has been with TriHealth for over 20 years.
  • The TriHealth Hatton Research Institute supports GME training programs’ research efforts.
  • You’ll have a shared voice in physician-led, patient-focused medicine and experience the camaraderie and professionalism of progressive, like-minded physicians.
  • Access to the latest advances in technology and the newest procedures.
  • Highly skilled, award-winning teaching faculty devoted to ongoing education and professional development.
