Karlsburger Foods is seeking a full-time Quality Assurance Manager. This role will work at our Corporate Headquarters located in Monticello, MN, and report directly to the Vice President of Innovation and Quality.
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to lead and oversee all quality assurance and food safety programs at our food production facility. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable HACCP, SQF, FDA, and USDA regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will be PCQI certified and demonstrate a strong understanding of food safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the facility’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs to ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF, FDA, and USDA requirements.
- Serve as the Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) responsible for developing and implementing the Food Safety Plan.
- Maintain and continuously improve the SQF Food Safety Management System, including internal audits, CAPAs, and validation activities.
- Oversee daily quality inspections, microbiological testing programs, and environmental monitoring.
- Manage quality team members, including training, performance management, and scheduling.
- Collaborate with operations, R&D, and supply chain teams to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances; lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure all QA documentation, SOPs, and records are current and properly maintained.
- Stay current with regulatory updates and industry best practices; provide guidance to ensure facility compliance.
- Represent the company during audits and inspections by regulatory bodies and third-party auditors.
- Lead food safety and quality training programs across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of QA experience in food manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- PCQI Certification (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) is required.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, SQF, FDA CFR 21, and USDA
- Certified SQF Practitioner (preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management software systems.
- Experience with internal and external audits, CAPA systems, and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to food allergens, moving machinery, and variable temperatures.
- Occasional weekend or off-shift work may be required to support audits or production schedules.
