This role operates at the intersection of sales, operations, and preconstruction, with a focus on aligning pursuit strategy, market intelligence, and company culture to support long-term growth. This is a senior, highly collaborative role reporting directly to executive leadership and working closely with operations, preconstruction, and marketing teams to drive long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the business development function with a focus on collaboration across departments rather than siloed sales

  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership in identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new market opportunities

  • Champion a company-wide, sales-driven culture where business development is shared across teams

  • Drive go/no-go decision-making processes to ensure pursuits align with strategic goals, culture, and profitability

  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships across core and emerging market sectors

  • Analyze market data, trends, and client intelligence to inform pursuit strategies and geographic focus

  • Partner with marketing and leadership to align messaging, positioning, and outreach efforts

  • Mentor and support business development team members, with potential to help shape future team growth

  • Actively contribute to refining processes, systems, and tools that support smarter, data-informed business development

Market & Project Focus

  • Strong presence in public and private sector work, including K–12 education, higher education, healthcare, and industrial projects

  • Exposure to complex and diverse project types, including selective niche sectors and specialized work

  • Emphasis on thoughtful, relationship-driven pursuits rather than volume-based chasing

Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, or market strategy within construction or a related industry

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with operations, preconstruction, and executive teams

  • Strategic thinker who is comfortable balancing relationship-building with data, analytics, and market insight

  • Strong communicator with the credibility to influence at all levels of an organization

  • Culturally aligned leader who values mentorship, accountability, and long-term partnership building

  • Construction-specific background is helpful but not required; perspective, leadership, and adaptability matter most
