Job Title/Description: Senior Project Manager
About the Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be a key leader in our organization. This is a role for a true project leader, not a project administrator—you will act as the “CEO” of your projects, taking full ownership from pre-construction to closeout.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for our clients, guiding them through the entire project lifecycle while ensuring successful delivery. This role is crucial to our success, requiring a blend of technical expertise, financial acumen, and strong leadership skills. You will be responsible not only for managing complex mechanical projects but also for mentoring our Assistant Project Managers, playing a key role in developing the next generation of talent within our company.
Key Responsibilities
- Support business development and client retention by participating in project interviews, cultivating new and existing client relationships, and serving as a primary point of contact.
- Lead the entire project lifecycle, including pre-construction turnover meetings, project scheduling, subcontractor management, and closeout.
- Take full P&L ownership for your projects. This includes developing initial budgets, managing all project costs, providing accurate monthly financial forecasts, and driving profitability through proactive change order management and cost control.
- Manage and coordinate with all project stakeholders, including our internal design department, superintendents, field crews, and subcontractors, to ensure seamless execution.
- Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers, delegating tasks such as submittals, RFIs, and plan distribution to guide their professional growth.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues with field crews and navigating challenges to achieve successful outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a construction project management role.
- Direct experience working for a mechanical, plumbing, or specialty trade contractor is required.
- Proven experience managing both plan-spec and design-assist/design-build projects.
- Proven ability to understand and interpret mechanical construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with construction software such as Foundation, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, MS Excel, and MS Word.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of building strong client and team relationships.
- A proactive, self-starting work ethic combined with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or mechanical engineering is desirable.
- LEED accreditation is preferred.
Must-have Quals
- Comfortable working in an on-site setting and commuting daily to our San Francisco office.
