The Senior Vice President of Global Medical Affairs is a senior leadership role and will report to the President and Chief Scientific Officer with primary responsibility for defining and executing the global medical affairs strategy across diverse therapeutic areas. This individual will lead a high-performing international team of medical affairs professionals, including Vice Presidents, and will ensure alignment of medical affairs activities with clinical development, regulatory standards, and commercial objectives on a global scale. The SVP will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s medical vision, driving innovative strategies for late-stage development and commercialization, and building partnerships with key stakeholders worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
Global Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a unified global medical affairs strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and business objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to Vice Presidents and their teams to ensure alignment with global priorities across therapeutic areas.
- Act as a strategic partner to global clinical development, regulatory, and commercial teams, ensuring that medical affairs activities support organizational goals worldwide.
- Key member of the Global Development Leadership Council responsible for GD strategy & governance.
Oversight of Global Medical Affairs Operations
- Ensure the development and execution of phase IV (post-marketing) studies, investigator-initiated studies, and other key medical affairs programs across all global markets.
- Oversee the dissemination of medical information to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency across regions.
- Maintain scientific rigor and innovation in all medical affairs activities, including late-stage development and commercialization strategies.
Team Development and Global Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of Vice Presidents and other senior medical affairs professionals to excel in their respective roles.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous development within the global medical affairs organization.
- Develop robust career development plans for team members, preparing them for expanded roles as the portfolio evolves globally.
Cross-Functional and Regional Collaboration
- Collaborate with global clinical development teams to drive innovative strategies for late-stage development and commercialization.
- Partner with regional commercial teams to ensure marketing strategies are informed by medical insights and adhere to high ethical standards.
- Facilitate global knowledge-sharing and alignment across therapeutic areas and functions to promote efficiency and consistency.
External Engagement and Global Thought Leadership
- Represent the organization at global scientific conferences, advisory boards, and with key opinion leaders (KOLs) worldwide.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with clinical experts, societies, advocacy groups, and other external stakeholders across multiple regions.
- Serve as a principal spokesperson for global medical affairs on significant matters impacting the organization.
Regulatory and Compliance Oversight
- Ensure adherence to international regulatory and compliance standards across all medical affairs activities.
- Collaborate with global regulatory teams to address health authority requirements for drug approval and commercialization.
- Maintain high standards of ethics and compliance globally, ensuring patient safety is at the center of all actions.
Qualifications
- Education: MD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant medical or scientific field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry, with at least 5 years in a senior global medical affairs leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading medical affairs teams across multiple therapeutic areas and global markets.

- Deep therapeutic area expertise, with the ability to provide strategic guidance across diverse portfolios.
