An established national general contractor is seeking an experienced Mission Critical leader to oversee and expand its Data Center business. This individual will provide executive leadership for large-scale hyperscale and mission critical projects while helping drive strategic growth, operational excellence, client relationships, and team development across the division.

The successful candidate will serve as the senior leader responsible for project execution, business development, recruiting, client management, and long-term growth initiatives within the Data Center market. This role offers the opportunity to help shape the future direction of a rapidly expanding mission critical platform while leading some of the largest and most complex projects in the country.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the overall growth and development of the Data Center business unit.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish long-term market strategy and growth objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into new clients, markets, and project types.
  • Serve as a visible industry leader representing the company with clients, partners, and industry organizations.
  • Help establish operational standards, best practices, and scalable processes for mission critical construction.

Operations & Project Delivery

  • Provide executive oversight for large-scale data center projects from pursuit through closeout.
  • Ensure successful execution related to schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Support project teams in resolving complex operational, technical, and staffing challenges.
  • Partner with preconstruction, estimating, operations, and field leadership teams throughout project delivery.
  • Review project performance metrics and implement strategies to improve outcomes and profitability.
  • Lead risk management efforts across the division.

Business Development & Client Relationships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with hyperscale, cloud, colocation, and enterprise clients.
  • Participate in project pursuits, interviews, presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with business development and preconstruction teams to secure new opportunities.
  • Support repeat business efforts through exceptional client service and project execution.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive activity within the mission critical sector.

Team Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop project executives, project managers, superintendents, and support staff.
  • Build organizational structure and staffing plans to support future growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Maintain accountability for division financial performance.
  • Monitor project profitability, backlog, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Participate in annual business planning and budgeting activities.
  • Ensure projects are managed in accordance with company financial objectives.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of commercial construction experience.
  • Significant experience delivering mission critical or hyperscale data center projects.
  • Proven success leading large project teams and managing executive-level client relationships.
  • Experience overseeing projects exceeding $250M in value; larger-scale program experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mission critical systems, commissioning, MEP coordination, and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, team building, and organizational leadership.
  • Ability to operate effectively in both strategic and hands-on leadership capacities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Hyperscale data center experience.
  • Experience leading a regional business unit, division, or major operational group.
  • Existing relationships within the mission critical marketplace.
  • Experience scaling teams and operations to support significant growth.
