Medical Director, US Medical Affairs – Alzheimer’s Disease
Company
Our client is a globally established, growing pharmaceutical company with a multi-decade legacy of innovation in neurology and a strong emphasis on research and development.
The company markets an FDA-approved, disease-modifying therapy for early Alzheimer’s disease and is investing heavily in expanding real-world evidence generation across its neurodegenerative disease franchise.
The organization is known for pairing scientific rigor with a genuine commitment to patients, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
The Role They Will Play
This Medical Director will provide medical leadership for Medical Affairs strategy, planning, and supportive tactics across an Alzheimer’s disease franchise.
The role owns the design, execution, and oversight of real-world evidence studies, medical education, research grants, advisory boards, and scientific publications for the therapeutic area.
Unlike many Medical Affairs roles, this position combines direct real-world-evidence strategy ownership with mentorship of associate directors and hands-on external stakeholder engagement.
The role offers a path to broader therapeutic-area leadership within a Medical Affairs organization that is actively expanding its neurodegenerative disease pipeline and footprint.
Background Profile
We are seeking a scientifically credible Medical Affairs leader with deep experience in neurodegenerative disease and real-world evidence generation. Candidates should bring:
- Expertise in neurodegenerative disease, particularly Alzheimer’s disease/dementia or a closely related disease state.
- 8+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, ideally including in-house Medical Affairs experience in a strategic decision-making capacity.
- Exposure to real-world evidence (RWE) generation strategies, post-marketing research, and publication planning.
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations and ICH guidelines governing clinical studies in the relevant therapeutic area.
- Advanced degree in the sciences (PhD, PharmD, or MD) or related field, or equivalent experience — an MD is not required.
